About

Oak Hill UMC Adult Education Building

Oakhill United Methodist Church, Austin, Texas

This new two-story 10,000 square foot adult education building completes the first courtyard for the church campus as depicted by the master plan. The courtyard frames a new circular entrance drive which acts as a convenient drop-off and informal front door to the campus. The covered walkway follows the circular drive and lends a visual unity to the buildings as well as accessible access. The building uses materials already present on the church campus: limestone split-face concrete block with brick banding, redwood siding, aluminum windows, and architectural asphalt shingles. Growth of the congregation prompted a sanctuary expansion where the existing narthex was converted into expanded seating to increase capacity by 50% and a new narthex was built at the east end of the building.
