Project Details

Located on a busy street in south Austin, this renovation of a 1920’s bungalow into a gelateria provides a casual setting in which to linger and enjoy the made-on-site frozen desserts and coffee.  A daylight-filled gallery leads to a custom-designed glass and pecan wood display case where customers can select from a colorful array of gelati.  Opposite the order counter, a long navy-blue banquette provides the best seat in the house, with views into the open kitchen where customers can see tomorrow’s gelato being made in the bright and clean workspace.  The banquette is anchored in place by a pecan wood enclosure which wraps above and around to provide sheltered seating separate from the order queue.
