Project Details

Capitol Quarters is a 45,000 sf mixed-use building in downtown Austin. It includes four levels of work-force housing lifted above ground level retail. Light shafts bring daylight deep into the building and develop brightly lit vertical circulation paths that subdivide the efficient plan into four quadrants. This subdivision creates a verticality and humane scale that fits comfortably in this downtown neighborhood. A rooftop terrace off the 5th floor community room provides an unmatched view to the capitol. Designed to be highly energy efficient, the project features a tightly detailed envelope, high efficiency HVAC systems, and rainwater collection.
