Project Details

Located within the UT Tower, the Texas Recruitment project expands outward-facing facilities located within the iconic building. The space will be paired with the Texas One Stop, which is located directly across the main corridor from this space, and the character of the space provides a calm and welcoming environment.

Inspired by the historic 1930s reading room that once occupied the area being renovated, the project revitalizes the open spatial qualities that were lost when it was subdivided into numerous small, closed spaces, blocking shared natural light and views to the exterior. While openness becomes part of the design, individual private service rooms provide spaces for one-on-one meetings, as well as families or groups. A glassy conference room is also located near the entrance, allowing natural light to permeate the main space while providing a versatile seminar area that can operate independently. Restoring aspects of the historic reading room to its original character becomes an essential component of the design.
